Mamoriarivo is in the Rural Commune of Talatavolonondry. Located 35 km north East of the capital Antananarivo.
The Association of Parents created the first school in the village of Mamoriarivo in 1975. The actual school has three classrooms and they are in a very poor state, as it was only built with very simple materials that they could afford of. In September 2010, to resolve the problem of insufficiency of classroom and the raise of number of children attending the school every year, the Association or Parents started to build another building with 2 classrooms. They succeeded in building the walls in 2010.
Now the works stopped because the money ran out. Now it is very urgent to find funding to finish the school, as facilities are no longer adequate. Furthermore if nothing is done to renovate the existing building before the rainy season, the damage might get worse
Two other villages of Andranotsimihozo and Ifalimanjaka located 1 km away each also send some of their children to this school, as it is the most appropriate school for them. The other nearer school they can use is difficult to access, a small bridge is always flooded during the rainy season.
Since the national road was repaired in 1993 there has been a steady influx of people due to the low cost of living for a population suffering from extreme poverty. The growing population in this area resulted in the lack of any kind of facility in this area which is fairly typical.
The objective is to finish the two additional cyclone-proof classrooms and to renovate three classroom building at this public primary school to a standard sufficient to withstand cyclones and to make it sustainable. To equip them with school benches and desks for the teachers and to build a latrine with 3 compartments.
